Audio Assault Bulldozer 1.02: A High-Gain Metal Guitar Amp Plugin
If you are looking for a guitar amp plugin that can deliver crushing metal tones, you might want to check out Audio Assault Bulldozer 1.02. This plugin is a virtual recreation of a famous German high-gain amp, with two channels, a gate, an effects section, a cab section, and an IR loader.
The clean channel of Bulldozer can go from sparkling cleans to crunchy overdrive, while the high-gain channel can unleash brutal distortion and saturation. You can switch between the channels with a footswitch or a MIDI controller.
The gate is useful for eliminating unwanted noise and feedback, especially when using high gain settings. The effects section includes 10 stompbox pedals that you can place before or after the amp, such as distortion, screamer, chorus, delay, reverb, and more. You can also bypass the effects if you prefer to use your own pedals or plugins.
The cab section lets you choose from four different guitar cabinets: American, British, Japanese, and German. You can also mix and match four different microphones: dynamic, condenser, ribbon, and tube. You can freely move the mic to any position and adjust the distance to dial in more air and room ambiance. You can also use the built-in high-pass and low-pass filters to shape the tone further.
If you are not satisfied with the included cabinets and mics, you can also load your own impulse responses (IRs) for the cab section. IRs are audio files that capture the sound of a real speaker cabinet in a specific room with a specific mic. You can find many free and paid IRs online, or even create your own with an IR loader plugin.
Audio Assault Bulldozer 1.02 is compatible with most DAWs and supports VST, VST3, AU, and AAX formats for both Windows and Mac. It is currently available for $5 until the 24th of July at audio-assault.com.
Whether you play death metal, black metal, djent, groove metal, or any other metal genre, Audio Assault Bulldozer 1.02 can help you achieve powerful and aggressive guitar tones with ease.
How to Use Audio Assault Bulldozer 1.02
To use Audio Assault Bulldozer 1.02, you need to install it on your computer and load it as a plugin in your DAW. You can use it as an insert effect on your guitar track, or as a send effect on a guitar bus. You can also use it as a standalone application if you want to practice or jam with it.
Once you load the plugin, you will see the main interface with four sections: Gate, Amp, FX, and Cab. You can click on each section to expand or collapse it. You can also drag and drop the sections to rearrange them.
The Gate section lets you adjust the threshold and release of the noise gate. You can turn it on or off with the switch on the top left corner. The gate is useful for eliminating unwanted noise and feedback, especially when using high gain settings.
The Amp section lets you choose between two channels: Clean and High-Gain. You can switch between them with the footswitch on the bottom left corner, or with a MIDI controller. You can also adjust the gain, bass, mid, treble, presence, and volume of each channel. The High-Gain channel has an additional boost switch that adds more distortion and saturation.
The FX section lets you choose from 10 stompbox pedals that you can place before or after the amp. You can turn each pedal on or off with the switch on the top right corner. You can also adjust the parameters of each pedal with the knobs below. The pedals are:
Distortion: A classic distortion pedal that adds more gain and crunch.
Screamer: A tube screamer pedal that boosts the midrange and tightens the low end.
Chorus: A modulation pedal that adds a subtle movement and depth to the sound.
Flanger: A modulation pedal that creates a sweeping comb filter effect.
Phaser: A modulation pedal that creates a phase shifting effect.
Delay: A time-based pedal that creates echoes and repeats of the sound.
Reverb: A time-based pedal that creates a sense of space and ambiance.
EQ: A graphic equalizer pedal that lets you adjust the frequency spectrum of the sound.
Compressor: A dynamics pedal that reduces the dynamic range and adds sustain to the sound.
Noise: A pedal that adds white noise to the signal for a lo-fi effect.
To load an IR, click on the IR button on the bottom right corner of the Cab section. A file browser will open where you can select an IR file from your computer. You can also adjust the level and phase of the IR with the knobs below.
